Whales of August

While thinking and meditating on troubled times I believe will be coming in the world and in the life of the Church this August, I heard these words - “Whales of August”. Not knowing truly what they meant I searched it on the Internet:

The Whales of August tells the story of two elderly widowed sisters near the end of their lives, spending a summer in a seaside house in Maine. The surroundings cause them to recall their relationship as young women, and the summers they had enjoyed there in the past. They reflect on the passage of time, and the bitterness, jealousies and misunderstandings that slowly festered over the years and kept them from establishing a true closeness in their relationship.”

In many ways this scenario seems to reflect the history of the Church with it’s many splits and denominations over the years and the recent moves of restoration and reconciliation towards true unity.

My further inquisitiveness provoked me to look up the word “Whales” to see if it may give me more understanding. To my surprise it gave me a more sobering understanding with some of the words describing it were: Giants and Goliaths.

It was during this period that the phrase “Valley of Achor” kept coming to mind and I decided to look into it’s specific meaning beyond the “valley of trouble” which I had already known:

Valley of Achor  Achor [N] [H]

trouble, a valley near Jericho, so called in consequence of the trouble which the sin of Achan caused Israel ( Joshua 7:24 Joshua 7:26 ). The expression "valley of Achor" probably became proverbial for that which caused trouble, and when Isaiah ( Isaiah 65:10 ) refers to it he uses it in this sense: "The valley of Achor, a place for herds to lie down in;" i.e., that which had been a source of calamity would become a source of blessing. Hosea also (Hosea 2:15 ) uses the expression in the same sense: "The valley of Achor for a door of hope;" i.e., trouble would be turned into joy, despair into hope.

The Door of Hope

I believe the Lord showed me that there would be a time of calamity, which would become a “door of hope” and a source of tremendous blessing for His people:

Hos. 2:15 – I will give her her vineyards from there, And the Valley of Achor as a door of hope; She shall sing there, As in the days of her youth, As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.

It is my impression that in the midst of the Whales of August that the Church must begin to quickly draw near to one another, forgetting what is behind us and press on together in the journey ahead or many will be swallowed up in the ensuing turmoil. This warning applies especially to the older sects of the Church that have endured these decades, by the grace of God, in spit of the lack of true unity.

“Tolerance”- the Worlds Slippery Slopes

I believe that “tolerance” is being sold to the world and the Church instead of “walking in truth”, so that political correctness is now being substituted for righteousness. When this is in full bloom and accepted by the majority of society it will then be used against the Judeo Christian religions to vilify the new normal.

Be prepared and recognize this subtle compromise as another step towards an invitation towards apostasy.  All other religions will buy into this delusion leaving the orthodox Judeo Christian religions nowhere to hide from it. “Compromise or else”!

Intolerance is becoming a condemning word! We need to know what we believe in, not only just believing, but why. Absolutes are quickly being eroded in our society. If we do not truly unite and stand together many will perish because they will try to tough it out standing alone. Deliberately walking together is essential and will be strategically affective for the precarious journey ahead.

Eccl. 4:10 – For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.

Heb. 10:25 - not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

Return to the Ancient Paths

Jer. 6:16 - Thus says the LORD, “Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
Jer. 6:17 - “And I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’
Jer. 6:18 - “Therefore hear, O nations, And know, O congregation, what is among them.
Jer. 6:19 - “ Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people, The fruit of their plans, Because they have not listened to My words, And as for My law, they have rejected it also.
Heb. 10:23 - Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
Heb. 10:24 - and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,
Heb. 10:25 - not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

Endurance - Churches Slippery Slopes

Caution and Warning Lights

“Caution and Warning” indicator lights are used in spacecraft’s to alert the astronauts of problems that arise in the various systems and subsystems. They are particularly useful during critical maneuvers such as landing, takeoff and re-entry. I have taken the following spiritual indicators (from my Life Applications Bible) as a checklist to examine our individual spiritual status as we near the Lord’s return. We do well to pay attention to them since the Holy Spirit is speaking to those who have ears to hear throughout the body of Christ today to get ready before it is to late. Here are some indicator lights of our spiritual love growing cold:

  1. Licentious behavior (Playing with fire)
  2. Disrespect or rejection of authority
  3. Greed or love of money
  4. Empty promises (not keeping your word)
  5. Straying from biblical truth
  6. Grumbling and complaining
  7. Critical divisive and destructive behavior
  8. Motivation by personal gain
  9. Self-promotion
  10. Habit of Flattery of others when it is to his advantage

To “Gird up your loins with the truth” means how much of the truth are you living and not how many scriptures we have memorized.

Rushing Streams

A Word from the Lord: “Know that My Words will be sent forth like a “rushing stream” and not just a trickle in this hour. Make sure you embrace and obey it for it will bring My Life where ever I send it”.

Is. 59:19  So they will fear the name of the LORD from the west And His glory from the rising of the sun, For He will come like a rushing stream Which the wind of the LORD drives.

A rushing stream washes away all the debris that has built up in our lives over the years. Its force has a redemptive and cleansing purpose, but it may throw some of us off balance and awaken those who have been sleeping by “rocking our boat”. I believe these scenarios will accompany ”winds of adversity” revealed in the scriptures as the “Hour of Testing. It will strengthen and alert those who have become complacent and at the same time bring in the End Time Harvest.

Our Time of Testing and the End Time Harvest

The word testing describes the assaying of Believers before the great shaking begins, especially in these later days revealing the true spiritual metal of a man. Be prepared for a season of testing in some, if not all of these areas:

Loyalty
Opinions
ondition
Patience
Strength
Dispositions
Faith
Character

I believe the “Whales of August” is just another milestone we will pass through. I do not know how long this season will last. It helps tremendously to know the times and season we are in as we journey forward together to gather the End Time Harvest. We will need the Lords grace and one another as never before to be strengthened, work together and encouraged to overcome. We are encouraged in the Scriptures:

Luke 21:28 - “But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

One of our Greatest Dangers

What is the greatest danger the Church faces?
- Is it the Anti-Christ and his cults?
- Is it the coming avalanche of darkness?
- I do not believe so.

I believe the greatest danger is to contend with being lulled to sleep like Sampson in the lap of the “Delilah’s” of this world. He lost his vision, strength, power and discernment. By and large the same thing has happened to the Church and it is time to arise for our light has come.

Make an Appointment

Make an appointment to continually walk together with others of like mind. Do not leave it to happenstance and make this your lifestyle commitment come “hell or high water” because we may experience both in our journey ahead:

Amos 3:3 - Do two men walk together unless they have made an appointment?
The Word goes throughout the earth by the Holy Spirit to His people - “WAKE UP”:

Rev. 3:2 - ‘Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.
Rev. 3:3 - ‘So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.

The Way of Escape

I believe the way of escape upward in the hour ahead for born again Christians is perseverance in the midst of persecution, while maintaining holiness by the grace of God, regardless of the cost. Refusing to compromise.

Rev. 3:10 - ‘Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole   world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
Rev. 3:11 - ‘ I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
